Discussion on clamping method for machining piston pin inner hole by gun drilling machine
Piston pin is one of the most important parts in automobile engine. The most important working procedure on the gun drilling machine is the drilling of the inner hole. The drawings are shown in the drawings for the parts.
When the hole is machined by four axis NC gun drilling machine, four workpiece can be clamped at one time, and the machining efficiency is very high.
Usually, the gun drill machine clamps the workpiece by using two inner cone top plates to tighten the ends of the workpiece, and the hydraulic pressure is tight. It is widely used because of its accurate positioning and high automation.
However, for the clamping of the piston pin parts, because of its special process arrangement, the process in the process of deep hole processing is divided into a whole piece of material by numerical control band saw, through the conveyor belt to the machine tool, the outer circle of the workpiece is not chamfered, and the perpendicularity of the two ends of the workpiece and the outer circle of the workpiece is very poor. If the two top two inner cone top plates are also used to clamp the workpiece, the defects of unreliable clamping and low positioning accuracy will cause the defects of unstable processing and high waste rate.
If a chuck is used to hold the outer circle of the workpiece, it can avoid the shortcomings of unreliable positioning and unreliable positioning, but the automatic clamping of the machine tool is difficult to realize, and it is necessary to load and unload the workpiece. It is unfavorable to improving production efficiency.
In view of the above problems, after careful analysis and calculation, technicians have designed a set of tooling which is very suitable for clamping piston pins.

1. the left and right ends of the workpiece are arranged in the form of a collet, and the outer ends of the workpiece are clamped, and the clamping length of each end is about 10mm.
2. The clamping force of the collet is hydraulically pressed.
3. the workpiece is placed on the "V" support bracket first, and the center height of the "V" bracket is adjusted, so that the workpiece and the collet are in the same axis.
4. left collet hydraulic drive, extending from left to right, the left end of the workpiece is inserted into the inner hole of the collet, continuing to the right, pushing the workpiece into the right end of the collet hole. The pinch spring sleeve is contracted to clamp the workpiece.
5. after deep hole processing, the left side collet is retreated, the collet on the left and right sides are loosened, and the workpiece falls on the "V" bracket. Complete the loading and unloading of the workpiece and the processing cycle.
The double collet can directly clamp the outer pin of the piston pin, and the positioning is accurate and reliable. In addition, it is also very suitable for automatic transmission of workpiece automatically.
