The first one is traditional drilling, which is a relatively simple processing method of bit structure. The introduction of cutting fluid is simple and convenient. It can make drill bits of different length and diameter, which is convenient to adapt to different sizes of hole processing. Using long and short twist drills in combination with drilling to remove cuttings and extend drilling step by step is a typical machining technique in deep hole machining of complex aircraft shell parts. It should be noted that traditional drilling is still a sharp tool for deep hole processing with diameter less than 6mm.


The second is gun drill, which comes from the manufacture of gun barrel. The V-type hollow drill pipe with single cutting edge and self guiding function is used for chip removal. Under the action of the pressure pump, the cutting fluid for deep hole machining enters into the internal channel of the drill pipe through the inlet, flows to the cutting part of the drill bit for cooling and lubrication, and then carries the drilling cuttings through the V-groove between the drill pipe and the hole wall, and then discharges from the outlet. Now, the gun drilling system is mainly used in the processing technology with a diameter less than 20 mm.
