Common Defects, Faults And Maintenance Methods Of NC Honing Machine

The main reasons are:

(1) The alignment error between honing spindle and workpiece hole is too large.

Measures: the coaxiality of spindle, guide sleeve and workpiece hole shall be adjusted;


(2) Excessive clamping force of fixture or improper clamping position;

Measures: adjust the clamping force or clamping position


(3) Uneven hole wall, high honing temperature or excessive honing pressure;

Action: evaluate the process and adjust the honing pressure


(4) Uneven hardness and material of inner hole of workpiece;

Measures: eliminate hard spots of workpiece during casting


(5) The coolant supply is uneven and insufficient, resulting in uneven cold and heat on the inner hole surface;

Measures: optimize and adjust the amount of coolant and flushing position


(6) The roundness error of process hole before honing exceeds I / 4 of honing allowance;

Action: evaluate the roundness status of boring station or strong positioning honing station


(7) The floating connection of honing head is too loose, the rotating speed is too high and the moment of inertia is large;

Measures: adjust the floating amount so that the joint can be automatically vertical


(8) The stroke speed is too high and the roughness is unqualified.

Action: adjust the parameters according to the workpiece state


2、 Hole straightness error out of tolerance


(1) The honing oilstone is too thick and the guide strip interferes;


(2) Oilstone has quality problems, fast wear and poor formability. The soft oilstone can be sulfurized to improve the durability of the oilstone;

(3) The straightness error of boring process hole is out of tolerance;

(4) The honing floating joint is not flexible. Affect the anisotropy of honing head;

(5) The clamping deformation of the workpiece is large;

(6) Low honing reciprocating speed and uneven coolant supply;

(7) The alignment between the fixture and the spindle or guide sleeve is not good,


3、 Hole size out of tolerance

(1) The honing heat is high and the size becomes smaller after cooling,

Measures: the honing allowance is too large and the honing time is too long; High honing speed and low reciprocating speed; The oilstone is blocked and has poor self sharpness; The honing quantity is fed too fast and the honing pressure is too large; Insufficient coolant or poor cooling performance.


(2) The boring station is unstable, resulting in small size,

Measures: the surface quality of process hole before honing is poor, and the honing allowance changes greatly;


4、 The honing surface roughness can not meet the process requirements

(1) The honing circumferential speed is too low and the reciprocating speed is too high;

(2) If the fine honing allowance is too small, the honing time is short, or the pressure is too large, the general fine honing allowance shall be > 5; Fine honing pressure < 0.5MPa;

(3) Honing cutting fluid has many impurities, low dryness, poor lubricity and small flow;

(4) The surface roughness of boring process is too large;

(5) The honing oilstone is too hard and easy to be blocked;

(6) The honing oilstone is too soft and the fine polishing is not good;

(7) If the material of the workpiece is too soft, hard or fine particle size or wax injection oilstone shall be selected;


5、 Honing surface scratch

(1) The honing oilstone surface is too hard and the structure is uneven. After the oilstone surface is blocked, it is easy to accumulate iron filings and scratch the surface;

(2) The clearance of the honing head in the hole is too small, and the surface is scratched due to extrusion between the honing head and the chips that are not easy to be discharged from the hole;

(3) The honing pressure is too high, which exceeds the strength of the oilstone, and the oilstone is crushed and scratched the workpiece surface;

(4) When the honing head exits, the oilstone does not retract first; So as to scratch the workpiece surface;

(5) The guide sleeve is not aligned with the workpiece hole, and the tail end is easy to swing flat when the honing head exits;

(6) The oilstone is too wide, and the iron filings are not easy to eliminate falling off and accumulate on the oilstone surface, forming hard spots and scratching the workpiece surface;

(7) There are too many impurities in the cutting fluid of honing machine, and the flow and I pressure force are too small;
