Machine Overview

The Combined CNC BTA Deep Hole Drilling & Gun Drilling Machine is designed for high-precision machining of deep holes in shaft-type components. Integrating both Gun Drilling and BTA Drilling technologies into a single machine, it offers exceptional flexibility for machining a wide range of hole diameters while maintaining excellent accuracy, productivity, and surface quality.

The machine adopts a single-spindle design, allowing both drilling methods to share the same spindle system. It is especially suitable for machining coaxial deep holes on shaft workpieces.

Machine Features

Dual Drilling Technology

The machine combines both Gun Drilling and BTA Drilling capabilities within a single platform, allowing users to select the most suitable drilling process according to hole diameter and machining requirements.

Both drilling methods share one spindle. Switching between Gun Drilling and BTA Drilling only requires replacing the cutting tools, auxiliary equipment, and coolant circuit, providing flexible production with minimal downtime.


Machining Principle

During operation, both the cutting tool and the workpiece rotate simultaneously while the drilling tool performs servo-controlled axial feed. This machining method improves hole straightness, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish.


Workpiece Clamping

The workpiece is securely clamped by:

A three-jaw chuck mounted on the headstock.

A hydraulic cone support at the opposite end for axial positioning and clamping.

The workpiece end should be prepared with a 2 × 30° chamfer to ensure proper positioning and stable machining.


Machine Structure

The machine is equipped with high-rigidity rectangular guideways, providing excellent load capacity, vibration resistance, and long-term machining stability for deep hole applications.

The machine bed and major structural components are manufactured from high-quality resin sand castings and undergo double aging treatment to eliminate internal stress, ensuring outstanding rigidity and long-term accuracy.

The inclined bed oil return system prevents coolant accumulation and improves maintenance efficiency.

Headstock

The headstock drives the workpiece at a constant rotational speed of 20 rpm.

The spindle is hydraulically controlled to perform automatic clamping and releasing of the workpiece, ensuring reliable positioning throughout the machining process.


Tool Feed System

The tool feed axis is driven by a servo motor and precision ball screw, providing:

Stepless feed rate adjustment

High positioning accuracy

Stable and smooth feeding performance


Drill Bar Support

The machine is equipped with two drill bar support units, providing effective support for long drilling tubes, minimizing vibration, and improving hole accuracy during deep hole machining.


Guide Frame

The guide frame performs multiple essential functions, including:

Tool guidance

Drill bar support

Coolant delivery

Chip evacuation

A precision guide bushing is installed at the front to ensure accurate tool guidance, while the rear support sleeve stabilizes the drill bar during machining.

The guide frame serves different functions depending on the machining method:

Gun Drilling: Supports chip evacuation.

BTA Drilling: Supplies high-pressure coolant to the cutting tool.

The guide frame is rigidly mounted on the machine bed for maximum stability.


High-Pressure Cooling & Filtration System

The machine is equipped with a complete high-pressure coolant system consisting of:

Variable-frequency high-pressure pump

Constant-flow high-pressure pump

Chain-type chip conveyor

Oil cooler

Multi-stage filtration system

Coolant pressure and flow can be conveniently adjusted through the control panel located beside the CNC operating station, ensuring optimal cutting performance under different machining conditions.


Machine Table

The machine features a T-slot worktable for convenient fixture installation and auxiliary tooling.

An integrated coolant return channel and splash guard are designed around the machine bed, ensuring efficient coolant recovery and a clean working environment.
