2. Machine Overview
2.1 Machine Use
This unit is a CNC deep-hole drilling system built for high efficiency, precision, and automation. It employs external chip evacuation (gun drilling) to produce small-diameter holes. The process often eliminates the need for separate drilling, reaming, and honing operations by achieving final bore quality in a single pass.
In the gun drilling method, oil enters through the spindle rear via a rotary joint, passes through the spindle bore and tool shank, and reaches the cutting edge. Chips and oil return through the V-shaped flute outside the bar, exit through the guide frame, and flow into the chip discharger. This design is typical for a Gun drilling machine for Long shaft parts.

2.2 Workpiece Clamping
A cone disc is mounted at the front of the headstock spindle and the guide frame spindle. Hydraulic pressure moves the headstock spindle axially, using the cone disc chamfers and the workpiece ends to clamp and locate the part automatically. The user must supply both the workpiece end chamfer dimensions and the overall workpiece size when ordering.
2.3 Guide Rails
Ball-type linear guide rails are used throughout the machine.
2.4 CNC System
GSK control system is fitted.

A new protective enclosure is included.

2.6 Drill Box
A servo main motor drives the spindle via synchronous belt and pulleys, offering stepless speed adjustment from 500 to 4000 r/min, with 15 kW power. A Korean rotary joint at the spindle rear ensures stable coolant delivery for deep-hole cutting. The drill box moves on ball linear guides to extend service life.
2.7 Bed
The bed features a three-sided closed structure with internal reinforcing ribs, providing rigidity for high-speed cutting. A T-slot table is machined on top to mount the feed system.
2.8 Tool Feed System
This system moves the cutting tool axially. A servo motor turns a ball screw with a double-nut assembly, lubricated by an automatic station. Screw-specific bearings are installed at both ends-one end fixed, the other end with a stretching arrangement.

2.9 Drill Pipe Support
Eight support sets are provided, enabling a maximum bore depth-to-diameter ratio of 100:1.
2.10 Headstock
The headstock rotates the workpiece at a fixed speed. A standard motor, through a gear reducer, synchronous belt, and pulleys, drives the headstock spindle. The entire headstock can be manually shifted axially and locked on the T-slot table with clamping blocks. Its spindle moves axially under hydraulic control for workpiece tightening and positioning, with ball linear guides for the movement.
2.11 Cooling System
Components: chip conveyor (chain plate), circulation pump, paper tape filter, oil cooler, pump set, level/flow/pressure/temperature sensors, and a steel-welded above-ground tank.
Sensor readings-level, temperature, flow, and pressure-are shown on the instrument panel. Two variable-frequency pumps adjust output by motor speed; each has a manual relief valve for pressure regulation. The chain conveyor removes chips and drains oil to the dirty tank. The circulation pump sends oil from the dirty tank through the paper tape filter, which auto-advances as needed. The oil cooler cycles on/off based on preset temperature limits.
2.12 Guide Frame
A guide sleeve at the left end provides drill guidance, sealing, and chip flow. A drill pipe support bushing at the right end stiffens the pipe. The guide sleeve rotates with the workpiece. For different hole diameters, the sleeve must be swapped. After extended use, worn sleeves that no longer meet tolerance requirements must be replaced.
2.13 Lubrication System
The linear guide slides and screw nuts for the drill box movement receive timed, measured lubrication from an automatic station.
