1.2 Functions of the Long Shaft Deep Hole Drilling and Boring Machine
This long shaft deep hole drilling and boring machine supports two machining modes:
① Workpiece rotates, cutter does not rotate, cutter feeds;
② Workpiece rotates, cutter rotates, cutter feeds.

Drilling process (BTA method) on the long shaft deep hole drilling and boring machine:
Cutting oil is fed into the tool through the gap between the oil pressure head, the tool bar, and the hole wall, then discharged together with chips via the inner hole of the tool bar.

Push boring process on the long shaft deep hole drilling and boring machine:
Cutting oil is fed similarly, but discharged through the bottom hole of the workpiece. During machining, the tool moves toward the headstock.

Cavity deep hole machining on the long shaft deep hole drilling and boring machine:
The CNC system controls X-direction (tool expansion/contraction) and Z-direction movement, enabling X-Z two-axis linkage. The tool is guided by the workpiece's bottom hole. The entire tool retracts in Z while the cutter head moves in X to machine cavity holes. Cutting oil is supplied via the oil pressure head, reaches the cutting edge through the gap between tool bar and hole wall, and carries chips forward into the chip discharge hopper (toward the headstock).

The chuck on the headstock clamps one end of the workpiece, and the cone disc on the oil pressure head clamps the other end.

Key components such as the box body, bed body, and carriage are precision-cast from high-quality cast iron. After casting, they undergo two aging treatments to eliminate internal stress, stabilize structure and dimensions, and improve mechanical properties – ensuring the long-term reliability of the long shaft deep hole drilling and boring machine.

Cooling System (for the Long Shaft Deep Hole Drilling and Boring Machine)

The cooling system of this long shaft deep hole drilling and boring machine mainly consists of a cooling pump, chip receiving box, oil tank, and other components. It supplies sufficient cutting oil to support the deep hole machining process. A chip conveyor is available as an optional attachment.

The oil tank is installed above ground and is fully welded using high-quality steel plates. Between the chip receiving boxes on the oil tank, a telescopic protective cover is installed to shield the oil tank and prevent debris from falling into it.

Key parameters of the cutting oil - including pressure, fluid level, temperature, and flow rate - can be digitally displayed on the control station of the long shaft deep hole drilling and boring machine.
