Quartz Glass Honing Machine

 

1.1 Application of Quartz Glass Honing Machine

 

Suitable for finishing various cylindrical deep-hole components. Supports both full-length honing and localized honing. When performing localized honing, it can correct taper, ovality, and local bore diameter errors of the workpiece.

 

The expansion and contraction of the honing head are controlled by a servo motor, enabling either constant-pressure feed or fixed-feed (constant-amount feed) of the honing head.

 

 

1.2 Quartz Glass Honing Machine Functions and Applications:

1.3 Tool oil supply method of Quartz Glass Honing Machine:  External spray; Internal oil feed.

 

1.4 Workpiece Clamping of Quartz Glass Honing Machine :

The workpiece is placed on two V-shaped workpiece supports and clamped firmly using clamping plates.

 

1.5 Main Machine Structure 

1.5.1 Main Components of Quartz Glass Honing Machine

Machine bed, honing spindle box, two sets of workpiece supports, honing bar support, rack and pinion, cooling system, PLC control system, electrical cabinet, full machine enclosure, etc.

 

1.5.2 CNC Axes of Quartz Glass Honing Machine

Z1 axis: Longitudinal feed motion of the honing spindle box (reciprocating movement of the tool). A servo motor drives the rack and pinion mechanism through a reduction gearbox.

Z2 axis: Controls tool expansion and contraction. A servo motor drives the axial movement of the expansion push rod through a reduction gearbox.

 

1.5.3 Machine Bed of Quartz Glass Honing Machine

Made of high-quality cast iron through precision casting, with double aging treatment to eliminate internal stress, stabilize structure and dimensions, and improve mechanical properties.

Linear guideways are mounted on the bed to guide the reciprocating movement of the tool, meeting the high-speed movement requirements of honing. A precision-machined and heat-treated rack is mounted inside the bed for tool feed transmission, ensuring stable drive performance. An oil collection pan is installed around the bed.

 

1.5.4 Honing Spindle Box of Quartz Glass Honing Machine

Used to drive tool rotation with infinitely adjustable spindle speed.

A servo spindle motor drives the spindle through a gear reduction box. The gears are precision-ground and high-frequency quenched, achieving a tooth surface hardness of HRC 48–52. This provides high strength, high hardness, high wear resistance, and high fatigue limit, enabling the gears to withstand significant alternating and impact loads.

The spindle is supported by a combination of cylindrical roller bearings and thrust ball bearings, offering high precision and the ability to withstand substantial axial and radial forces. Lubricating oil is used to extend gear and bearing life.

 

1.5.5 Workpiece Supports of Quartz Glass Honing Machine

Two sets are provided to support the workpiece. Each features a V-shaped structure. Workpieces of different diameters can be clamped by replacing (spacer blocks / shims) of varying thicknesses.

 

1.5.6 Honing Bar Support of Quartz Glass Honing Machine

Supports the honing bar during machining and measurement. Two sets are provided: one fixed to the machine bed, and the other movable on square linear guideways on the bed.

 

1.5.7 Cooling System of Quartz Glass Honing Machine

Provides cooling and lubrication fluid to the tool. The system mainly consists of a pump, paper belt filter, magnetic roller filter, and tank. It supports both external spray and internal oil feed lubrication methods, which can be selected via the operation station.

 

1.5.8 Lubrication System of Quartz Glass Honing Machine

The guideway slides and rack used for reciprocating movement of the honing spindle box are automatically lubricated by an automatic lubrication station, which is equipped with a level alarm. The gears and bearings inside the honing spindle box are lubricated by mechanical oil filled in the box, with lubrication achieved through gear rotation.

 

1.5.9 Control System of Quartz Glass Honing Machine

PLC control. Reciprocating speed, spindle speed, and tool feed amount can be set through programming. The operation station is mounted on the machine bed, and the operation panel can be manually rotated for convenient machine operation.
