2.1 Machining Range of the deep drilling machines :

2.2 Deep drilling machines Functions: Drilling, Boring, Trepanning, and Cavity Hole Machining
2.2.1 Drilling: Utilizes the BTA (Boring and Trepanning Association) drilling method. Cutting oil is fed through the oil feeder, passes through the gap between the tool holder and the hole wall to the tool, and carries chips out through the inner bore of the tool holder.
2.2.2 Boring: Cutting oil is fed through the oil feeder and the gap to the tool, carrying chips out through the bottom of the workpiece bore. The tool moves towards the headstock during machining.
2.2.3 Trepanning (Hole Saving): External oil feed, internal chip removal. Coolant is supplied through the oil feeder and chips are evacuated through the inner bore of the tool holder.
2.2.4 Cavity Hole Machining: For complex internal cavities, the CNC system controls synchronized X-axis (tool expansion/contraction) and Z-axis movements. The tool retracts in the Z-direction while the cutter head moves radially (X-direction), guided by the pilot bore, to machine the cavity profile. Cutting oil is fed through the oil feeder for cooling and lubrication, with chips flushed forward into the chip chute.
2.3 Deep drilling machines Working Principle & Main Structure
Operation: The workpiece is rotated by the headstock and supported by the oil feeder. The drilling unit, carrying the tool, performs the linear feed motion.
Main Components of deep drilling machines : Bed, Headstock, Oil Feeder, Tool Holder Support, Drilling Unit, Slideways, Gear & Rack System, Cooling System, Control System, Electrical Cabinet, Workpiece Support Rest, etc.
Workpiece Clamping: One end is held by a manual 3-jaw chuck on the headstock; the other end is automatically centered and supported by the servo-controlled cone on the oil feeder.
